The Boatyard exists for the benefit and resource of boat owners to enhance the enjoyment of owning a boat and represents various brands that include: sailing yachts - both big and small, marine marketing services, marina management, brokerage, insurance, lifestyle and clothing.
Steven Bond is a well known Melbourne yachtsman having sailed most of his life through dinghies, etchells, rating and one-design boats and now a member of one of Australia’s most successful yachting teams; Wild Thing Yachting. Steven’s sales and marketing expertise is now being applied with his broad knowledge of the marine industry to assist in growing the sport of sailing.
Perhaps our greatest passion is 'Getting Kids in Boats' through our own OziOpti & Tackers brands, by introducing sailing to kids, the boatyard works with various stakeholders to increase participation for the long-term benefit to the pastime of boating and the stakeholders as a whole; clubs, industry, facilities, etc.
Recently the boatyard was involved in the ‘Live This Life’ Melbourne Stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race via its close affiliation with ‘LeisureCorp’ a Docklands based business with leisure and hospitality expertise that will see the introduction of water based activities on Melbourne’s newest water attraction, Docklands.
Jeff has been sailing, fishing and generally messing about with boats since he was a little tacker. He recently arrived in Melbourne from Tasmania, where he was well know as a sailor and manager of the Maritime Museum of Tasmania.
In the late 1980s and early 90s Jeff part owned Muir's Boatyard in Battery Point, Hobart, where he was involved in all aspects of the boating industry. In 2002 Jeff sailed away from Tasmania with his family and enjoyed two years cruising the eastern seaboard of Austrlia.
Jeff is currently building a 14.7m Fantail River Launch for the Yarra and Maribyrnong Rivers and Port Phillip. See www.baycitycruises.com.au. He has been involved in the commercial boating Industry in Hobart, Brisbane and now Melbourne.
Jeff holds a Master V and M.E.D. 3 classification and is an accredited Yachting Instructor with Yaching Australia. He has a vast knowledge of pleasure and commercial boating and is looking forward to assisting you with selling or buying a boat.
